I think that writing this blog will be the most interesting part, because I will be giving a reflection about something I have really enjoyed. Before taking this course, I had no idea about digital humanities. I didn’t even know what the course was about when I read its name. however, after taking this course and spending a lot of time working on it, I have benefitted a lot.
Before, when I thought of humanities, I only thought of literature, history, and philosophy, which was pretty boring for me. Now that I was able to integrate these subjects into the digital world, it became much more exciting to me.

After doing my final project about this course, where I chose Jane Austen as my author, I used several tools. I was able to map Jane Austen’s life and the most important events of her life using Google My Maps, and with each place I had a description of the event that happened. Another thing I learned which was very interesting to me was conducting a network analysis on palladio. I also did that for Jane Austen’s novels and it helped me analyze them.
The most tool I liked was Voyant Tools , and that’s because its very user friendly. I used this tool in my philosophy course where I was doing a research about the philosophers Plato and Kant. I was able to find the words they use the most in their writings, and I was able to write a very detailed research paper. This was a type of distant reading that I used in order to write my research paper. If I hadn’t taken this course, I would’ve literally read all the reading that Plato and Kant had in order to analyze.

Finally, through Timeline JS, I was able to put in all the tools that I have used and put all my findings together into one platform. This course has really benefited me and gave me a lot of information that I didn’t know before. I am sure that ill be putting into practice everything I have learned in this course when ill be doing projects at work as well! Also, it was very interesting to learn about Jane Austen.
